Potremmo quasi definire “From the City to the Ocean” un pezzo pop, nel senso che stavolta Alex Henry Foster si è spinto molto vicino alla classica forma-canzone. Fa sorridere dirlo, considerando che parliamo di un brano di quasi tredici minuti. Eppure le melodie sono tremendamente efficaci. Certo, Alex ama dilatare le trame sonore e non deluderà i fan del post-rock, ma questo resta uno dei suoi lavori più accessibili degli ultimi anni. E attenzione: non è affatto una critica.

We could almost define “From the City to the Ocean” as a pop track, meaning that this time Alex Henry Foster got very close to the classic song structure. It makes you smile to say this, considering we are talking about a nearly 13-minute song. Yet the melodies are tremendously effective. Sure, Alex loves to stretch his soundscapes and will not disappoint post-rock fans, but this remains one of his most accessible works in recent years. And mind you: that is not a criticism at all.
