The work immediately hits the gas with “Berlin”, a raw episode with strong American vibes: when the guitars burst onto the scene halfway through, they leave a deep mark. The mood shifts rapidly in the following “Science”, where frontal energy gives way to a dense, visceral atmosphere, supported by profound lyrics. Six strings represent the backbone of the entire work, and in “Begging You” they take over the space from the very first seconds. It is our absolute favorite track: a killer chorus and a solid sonic architecture, where the songwriting is completely at the service of spot-on melodic ideas.
The tracklist maintains a high average quality, delivering excellent band dynamics. Just listen to the perfect chemistry between drums, riffs, and vocals that triggers the rhythmic outbursts of “Hold On Tight”. There is no shortage of surprising detours. “Ordinary Man” temporarily abandons overseas coordinates to embrace British fascinations, jazz undertones, and nostalgic echoes from Eastern Europe. A truly peculiar and fascinating moment. The curtain falls on the notes of “Stay”, offering a wide-breathing closure that winks at certain U2 productions.
A debut that breathes, bites, and excites, and above all, reveals a well-defined identity.

Vienna non è solo palazzi imperiali e musica classica. L’anima indipendente della capitale austriaca pulsa nell’album omonimo dei Ghost Diaries, un disco che mette in fila dieci tracce di notevole sostanza. L’opera schiaccia subito sull’acceleratore con “Berlin”, episodio ruvido dalle spiccate vibrazioni americane: quando a metà corsa le chitarre irrompono sulla scena, il segno lasciato è profondo. Il clima muta rapidamente nella successiva “Science”, dove l’energia frontale cede il passo a un’atmosfera densa e viscerale, sorretta da liriche di spessore. Le sei corde rappresentano la spina dorsale dell’intero lavoro e in “Begging You” aggrediscono gli spazi fin dai primissimi secondi. È il nostro passaggio preferito in assoluto: un ritornello micidiale e una solida architettura sonora, in cui la scrittura si mette totalmente al servizio di intuizioni melodiche azzeccate.
La tracklist viaggia su medie qualitative alte, regalando ottime dinamiche di gruppo. Basti ascoltare la chimica perfetta tra batteria, riff e voce che innesca le sfuriate ritmiche di “Hold On Tight”. Non mancano deviazioni spiazzanti. “Ordinary Man” abbandona temporaneamente le coordinate d’oltreoceano per abbracciare fascinazioni british, venature jazz ed echi nostalgici provenienti dall’Europa dell’Est. Un momento davvero particolare e affascinante. Il sipario cala sulle note di “Stay”, regalando una chiusura dal respiro ampio che strizza l’occhio a certe produzioni degli U2.
Un esordio che respira, graffia ed emoziona, e che soprattutto mostra un’identità ben definita.
