Travis Klein e Jack Fawdry fanno musica dal 2022, in totale indipendenza, con un setup casalingo che riesce miracolosamente a generare un suono massiccio, da grande produzione. Questo disco è il loro punto d’arrivo, un lavoro che guarda dritto ai classici di fine anni ’90 — Rob Zombie, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson — per mescolarli con l’arena rock e il metal moderno. Il risultato è un album che non puzza di vecchio, ma profuma di autentico.
Ma andiamo al sodo, vediamo nel dettaglio il disco. “Wake Me When I’m Dead” arriva subito ed è una dichiarazione d’intenti. È un pezzo che il primo Manson avrebbe adorato scrivere: un rock oscuro, teso, che annoda un filo rosso tra passato e presente. Non è un’operazione nostalgia, ma la rivendicazione di un’attitudine. Subito dopo, “I Hate You Forever” cambia registro e alza il volume dell’aggressività. La grinta del cantato ti entra nelle ossa, un urlo rabbioso che vuole spezzare i cliché del genere. Non è una canzone da ascoltare in sottofondo; è un assalto sonoro il cui ritornello si trasforma in un inno liberatorio.
I ProjeKT dimostrano una scrittura matura e complessa. I testi non sono mai buttati lì per riempire spazi, ma scavano in profondità, unendo la furia rock a un’intelligenza rara. Questa dualità emerge in pezzi come “Crystal Light By Design”, un gioiello che farà la felicità dei fan dei primissimi Nine Inch Nails. In un album così denso di energia, “Fall Moon Ride” rappresenta un momento di epicità pura. Ha l’atmosfera di una ballad, ma costruita secondo le regole del rock-metal: la grinta non viene mai meno, l’energia esplode e la melodia assume contorni grandiosi. È uno dei brani migliori del lotto, quello che più di tutti consacra la capacità della band di creare paesaggi sonori di grande impatto. A chiudere il cerchio arriva “Game Over”, una perfetta stanza di decompressione. Giunge nel momento giusto e occupa il posto giusto nella scaletta, lasciando l’ascoltatore con un senso di chiusura appagante.
“Emissary” è quindi molto più di un ottimo disco rock. È un atto di resistenza contro la musica di plastica, la dimostrazione che si può essere potenti e intelligenti allo stesso tempo. Con talento e zero compromessi, i ProjeKT non si limitano a suonare, ma restituiscono al rock un’anima pensante e un cuore oscuro.
