REFIL Neuromancer
ReFil’s new album is a true musical adaptation of “Neuromancer”, William Gibson’s debut cyberpunk novel. This project was created to celebrate the forty-second anniversary of the book’s publication.
ReFil is preparing to release an extra-large album composed of twenty-three tracks on July 1st. Yes, “Neuromancer” has a substantial tracklist, where every song stems from meticulous work on the different layers of sound. It is an album suitable for a night drive, but it reveals its full value only if the listener chooses to use headphones. It is no exaggeration, but those who want to learn how to create music will find excellent technical insights in this project, useful for anyone cultivating artistic ambitions.
The journey begins with “Chiba City Intro”, a modern track that recalls the tense atmospheres of the TV series “Mr. Robot”. Right after comes “Night City Ambience”, a track capable of opening a true space-time rift in the mind of the listener. With “City Run”, the structure changes continuously, so much so that it contains three songs in one. When the rhythm accelerates, the style approaches Nine Inch Nails and the power of industrial hits the ears with force. The same drive continues in “Panther Moderns”, an episode with a clear metal soul that recalls the style of Tool.
In the second part of the tracklist, “Villa Straylight” stands out, a precisely crafted track where the emotional tension builds and brings back the dark sounds of Mac Quayle. In closing, “I’m The Sum” acts as a necessary decompression chamber. Between ambient sounds and drone solutions, the final track takes its leave with an almost mystical solemnity, ideal for ending such a dense sonic journey.

Sì, “Neuromancer” ha una scaletta corposa, dove ogni brano nasce da un lavoro minuzioso sui diversi livelli del suono. È un album adatto a una guida notturna in macchina, ma esprime tutto il suo valore solo se l’ascoltatore sceglie di usare le cuffie. Non è una esagerazione, ma chi vuole imparare a creare musica trova in questo progetto ottimi spunti tecnici, utili per chiunque coltivi ambizioni artistiche.
Il percorso inizia con “Chiba City Intro”, un pezzo moderno che richiama le atmosfere tese della serie TV “Mr. Robot”. Subito dopo arriva “Night City Ambience”, un brano capace di aprire un vero varco spazio-temporale nella mente di chi ascolta. Con “City Run” la struttura cambia continuamente, tanto da racchiudere tre canzoni in una sola. Quando il ritmo accelera, lo stile si avvicina ai Nine Inch Nails e la potenza dell’industrial colpisce le orecchie con forza. Il nuovo album di ReFil è un vero e proprio adattamento musicale di “Neuromante”, il romanzo cyberpunk di debutto di William Gibson. Questo progetto nasce per celebrare il quarantaduesimo anniversario dalla pubblicazione del libro.
