Every time “Inevitable” seems to have found a direction, Awake & Dreaming pull the ground from under the listener’s feet. Piano turns into distortion, rock gives way to folk, a dream-pop melody opens a suspended passage: ten fluid tracks, able to surprise without ever losing sight of the story.
Ogni volta che “Inevitable” dà l’impressione di aver preso una direzione, gli Awake & Dreaming spostano il terreno sotto i piedi all’ascoltatore. Il piano diventa distorsione, il rock lascia spazio al folk, una melodia dream pop apre una parentesi sospesa: ecco dieci brani mobili, capaci di sorprendere senza mai perdere il filo della storia.

At first listen, “Supervoid” almost inevitably brings Spiritualized to mind. Not so much because of a precise similarity, but because of two elements Tyson Dickert shares with Jason Pierce’s band: rock as the raw material of his songs, and the courage to build harmonies and arrangements capable of expanding the form of the song itself. The comparison, however, ends there, because Dickert is not a musician who imitates: he is one who creates, and this fourth album makes that very clear.
Al primo ascolto di “Supervoid” è quasi inevitabile pensare agli Spiritualized. Non tanto per una somiglianza precisa, quanto per due elementi che Tyson Dickert condivide con la band di Jason Pierce: il rock come materia prima e il coraggio nel costruire armonie e arrangiamenti capaci di allargare la forma della canzone. Il paragone, però, finisce qui, perché Dickert non è un musicista che imita: è uno che crea, e questo quarto album lo dimostra con notevole chiarezza.

In un panorama rap spesso intasato da scappatoie trap e atteggiamenti di facciata, “Camera Di Pressione” – lavoro a quattro mani tra il rapper Ari Selva e il producer svizzero Vaynex – sceglie una strada diversa, più solida. Nessuna malizia per modaioli dell’ultima ora: il progetto guarda dritto agli anni ’90 e al primo decennio dei 2000, periodo in cui la cultura musicale e lo spessore delle rime contavano davvero. Niente stereotipi legati a spaccio o spacconate. I testi sono cesellati con cura, scritti per raccontare la quotidianità e storie reali con una vera urgenza narrativa.
In a rap scene often bogged down by trap shortcuts and superficial posturing, “Camera Di Pressione” — a collaborative album by rapper Ari Selva and Swiss producer Vaynex — takes a different, far more solid path. No gimmicks for trendy listeners: the project looks straight to the ’90s and early 2000s, an era when musical culture and the weight of the rhymes actually mattered. No stereotypes tied to dealing or posturing. The lyrics are carefully crafted, written to tell everyday stories and real experiences with genuine narrative urgency.

Some albums seem to be nothing more than a collection of notes, while others resemble entire worlds. “Mission SuperHabitable” by AstroVoyager belongs to the latter: a vast, pulsating sonic universe where the music expands, changes shape, and allows each passage to find its own breathing space. It is a mature, unhurried work that recaptures the pleasure of a long journey and a narrative capable of unfolding beyond the boundaries of a single track.
Ci sono album che sembrano soltanto un’insieme di note e altri che assomigliano a mondi. “Mission SuperHabitable” di AstroVoyager appartiene alla seconda specie: è un universo sonoro ampio e pulsante, nel quale la musica si dilata, cambia forma e lascia che ogni passaggio trovi il proprio respiro. È un lavoro maturo, senza fretta, che recupera il gusto per il viaggio lungo e per una narrazione capace di svilupparsi oltre la singola traccia.

“Here Come the Freaks” is firmly rooted in metal and rock, but it does not seem interested in closing itself off within those boundaries. Its strength lies precisely in its ability to open up, allowing more immediate melodies, industrial ideas, more elusive atmospheres and even a certain inclination towards catchiness to filter through. The structure remains solid, but around this compact core, the album keeps the air and ideas flowing.
“Here Come the Freaks” ha radici ben piantate nel metal e nel rock, ma non sembra intenzionato a chiudersi dentro quei confini. La sua forza sta proprio nella capacità di aprire spiragli, lasciando entrare melodie più immediate, intuizioni industriali, atmosfere più oblique e persino una certa vocazione all’orecchiabilità. La struttura resta solida, ma attorno a questa anima compatta il disco continua a far circolare aria e idee.

The heart of the album lies in the title track. The song starts like an ascent toward a Dantesque Paradise: expanded sounds, Middle Eastern references, and a magma of vocals that take the listener by the hand. It is a track that breathes, capable even of moving you to tears and turning the spirit into solid matter, like clay to touch and admire.
Il cuore dell’album è nella title track. Il brano parte come un’ascesa verso un Paradiso dantesco: suoni dilatati, richiami mediorientali e un magma di voci che prende per mano chi ascolta. È un pezzo che respira, capace persino di commuovere e di trasformare lo spirito in materia solida, come creta da toccare e ammirare.

La risposta arrivata da Villa Durazzo Bombrini, nell’ambito del Lilith Festival, è stata questa: abbiamo ancora in giro un’artista pienamente capace di dare peso alle proprie canzoni.
Introduction. When attending the concert of an artist with a long and distinctive career like Beth Orton’s, the inevitable question concerns the relationship with time: what remains, what changes, what mark the passing years leave on the voice and stage presence. The answer that came from Villa Durazzo Bombrini, as part of the Lilith Festival, was clear: we still have an artist among us who is fully capable of giving weight and depth to her songs.
