AWAKE & DREAMING Inevitable

awake dreaming inevitable

Every time “Inevitable” seems to have found a direction, Awake & Dreaming pull the ground from under the listener’s feet. Piano turns into distortion, rock gives way to folk, a dream-pop melody opens a suspended passage: ten fluid tracks, able to surprise without ever losing sight of the story.

“I U Me” is an opening that immediately puts you on alert, with a piano that recalls Trent Reznor’s darkest ideas and an attitude close to Nine Inch Nails, before evolving into mature rock shaped by cinematic touches and oblique melodies. “Rewire” returns to classic rock, direct and free of frills, while “Old Ghosts” slows the pace and introduces a melancholic folk sound that even evokes Lana Del Rey. Further on, “Lights Down Low” comes closest to the Radiohead aesthetic, while “Can’t Sleep” lets echoes of Tori Amos and Kate Bush emerge. The real strength, however, lies in the sequencing: every song feels like a new beginning, yet its connection to the next one always seems… inevitable. The single “Underwater” also proves to be a grower: at first, we considered it the project’s weak link, but after several listens, the vocals, lyrics and those dream-pop melodies, like waves arriving to embrace you, completely changed our perspective. The journey reaches its conclusion with “Event Horizon”. Symphonic, epic and immense, it grips the heart and carries the listener to a point where resisting emotion simply becomes pointless. Like opening your eyes and realizing you have kept them closed for far too long.
