Usually, four songs are not enough to grasp the real direction of a musical project. On this EP, however, Shxdowpvlse immediately reveals his path, relying on solid technique and avoiding messy experiments.
The title track, “Sascha“, opens the record by setting the coordinates straight: the Eighties and Depeche Mode echoes are fully present. It delivers a retro yet magnetic and welcoming electronic vibe; a dark, restless, and somehow maternal sound. “Tyler” takes us instead to a “Miami Vice” setting. It draws heavily from those atmospheres and updates them, reminding us that the past should be explored and used as a springboard to push further ahead. On the third piece, “Umbra”, new vibes come into play and the drums pick up the pace. The tune gains momentum without ever feeling intrusive: the atmosphere still dominates the overall imagery. The release closes with “Mons”, blending chiptune elements and prog nuances within a sturdy synth framework.
Overall, a brief but focused work that cuts to the chase, displaying a clear vision.

Di solito quattro brani sono pochi per capire la vera direzione di un progetto musicale. In questo EP, però, Shxdowpvlse fa capire subito dove vuole andare, affidandosi a una tecnica solida e senza perdersi in tentativi confusi.
La title track, “Sascha“, apre il disco mettendo a fuoco le coordinate: gli echi anni Ottanta e dei Depeche Mode si sentono tutti. È un’elettronica dal sapore retrò ma magnetica, accogliente; un suono dark e inquieto, eppure a suo modo materno. “Tyler” ci porta invece dalle parti di “Miami Vice”. Riprende a piene mani le atmosfere di quella colonna sonora e le attualizza, ricordandoci che il passato va esplorato e usato come trampolino per spingersi un po’ più in là. Con il terzo pezzo, “Umbra”, entrano in gioco nuove vibrazioni e la batteria alza i giri. La traccia acquista una spinta che non risulta mai invadente: a dominare l’immaginario complessivo resta l’atmosfera. Il disco si chiude con “Mons”, un pezzo che mescola elementi chiptune e spunti prog, il tutto dentro una cornice elettronica robusta.
Insomma, un lavoro breve ma centrato, che bada al sodo e mostra una bella chiarezza di intenti.
